RESULT'S 2013 GUEYDAN DUCK FEST DOG TRIAL'S

 The 37th annual Gueydan Duck Festival Dog Trial's hosted by CAJUN HRC and sponsored by DIXIE RICE agricultural Corp. held on August 24, 2013 in Gueydan, La had a great turn out with nearly 150 handler/dog teams in contention in three divisions with some of the best Pro/Am team's in the south attending. The dog trial's are based on the HRC hunt test venue and judged on AKC field trial point system.

 The finished division set up was a triple mark with a moderate cold blind placed between pinch mark's and wind was the big factor of the day at 10 to 15 mph and quartering dog and handler on all mark's and the cold blind. Mark #1 was directly to the team's left out to 75 yard's  with the wind directly into the dog's right side and thrown left to right, mark #2 was directly in front of the team at 110 yard's with a quartering wind to the dog's right shoulder and was thrown from right to left creating a pinch mark, mark #3 was directly to the right of the team at 45 yard's with the wind to the dog's left side and thrown right to left. The cold blind was place between mark's #1 and #2 at around 125 yard's. The set up was tricky with a number of dog's fading with the wind on all the mark's, dog's that faded heavily with the wind on mark #2 tended to get hung up on the old scent from the blind and a number handler's were unable to pull dog's of the blind to pick up the mark #2. Robert Authement and his dog Princess took top honor's as Princess stepped on her mark's and was the only dog to truly line the cold blind,  Ken Vidrine and his dog Hunter front pawed all his mark's then sliped a whistle on the blind landing the team in 2nd place..

Next year's dog trial's will be held the weekend before labor day so get those dog's ready and see if you can bring that great trophy home for the year!!!
